CVMSDC BOC 2018 – President’s Letter (Dominique Milton)

As the incoming president of CVMSDC, I am honored to pick up the mantle of VALUE forged by our Immediate Past President Eric Watson.

We are very excited about our 2018 Business Opportunity Conference in Concord, North Carolina—sponsored by Bank of America. As we build on the joint Value Proposition of Supplier Development and the Carolinas-Virginia Council, we want to demonstrate a tangible impact on our constituents’ business success. This means that our partners are growing profitably, which allows them to have a positive Economic Impact on our market.

This year we commissioned our second Economic Impact Analysis, which updates the status and value of minority business. As a result, we can connect our supplier development work to society in the most resonate business language of “money.”

An additional metric of value that we are excited to share is the Carolinas-Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council’s overall impact. At the BOC, we will leverage the Economic Impact Analysis by taking a deeper look at the study, our market demographics, and minority business development. In a Regional Industry Needs Group (RING) Cafe approach, we will actually look to uncover opportunities for greater and stronger aligned partnerships.

Make plans now to join us Aug. 20-21 at the Embassy Suites, Concord Mills. At CVMSDC, we are continually working toward “Delivering Value to Support Future Needs.”

SCHEDULE

Register early to secure your ticket to this potentially sold out event August 20-21st at the Embassy Suites Convention Center, Concord/Charlotte, NC. Certified MBE’s will save $100 with early registration in 2018. (The Early Bird Special ends July 20, 2018)

We listened to your feedback, during the 40th BOC. As a result, more emphasis will be placed on matchmaking. After registration, certified MBEs are prompted to upload profiles on our EVENTDEX APP for matchmaking sessions with our Corporate Partners. All Corporate Partners are encouraged to present company opportunities during matchmaking meetings instead of the traditional Business Expo. In 2018 Matchmaking takes the place of the Business Expo.

The 41st annual theme is “Delivering Value to Support Future Needs.” Our keynote speaker will merge The 2018 Economic Impact Study Findings with Economic Trends in our market to shed light on future industry opportunities. The conference will include: a golf tournament, developmental workshops, an awards reception & dinner, with an MBE scholarship auction, networking social areas, enhanced matchmaking sessions and a newly added RING Café with learning circles.
